Frequently Asked.
What is tallow, and why use it on skin?
Tallow is gently rendered beef fat, and when it comes from grass-fed, pasture-raised animals, it's one of the most skin-compatible substances on earth. Its fatty-acid profile closely mirrors the lipids in your own skin, which is why it absorbs so readily and feels so quietly transformative.
Will it smell like meat?
No. Properly rendered tallow is mild and slightly creamy. Most of our balms are gently scented with organic essential oils, and our Baby balm is fully unscented.
Is Clementine safe for babies and sensitive skin?
The Baby Balm is formulated for delicate skin and is our recommended option for babies. As with anything new, we recommend performing a small patch test before regular use.
How long does a jar last?
A 4-ounce jar typically lasts a few months with daily use. A little goes a long way.
How should I store my balm?
Somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight. Tallow softens in warm weather and firms in cool, that's normal, and doesn't affect quality.
Do you ship?
Yes. We ship across the United States, and local pickup is available by appointment in my hometown in California. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout.
Do you use preservatives?
No. Because our balms contain no water, preservatives aren't necessary. Every jar is made fresh to order using simple ingredients, and we recommend enjoying it within 12 months for the freshest experience.
Is Clementine cruelty-free?
We never test on animals. Our tallow is sourced from regenerative farms that raise cattle on pasture, the way nature intended.
Still wondering?
